The Stewardship Regulators Group (SRG) brings together regulators and government departments with a responsibility for or interest in stewardship policy and regulation. The FRC chairs this group.

The purpose of the SRG is to cooperate on the development and review of stewardship-related policy and regulation, to support a regulatory framework for effective stewardship. The group is not a decision-making body.

Membership

Membership includes representatives from:

  • Department for Business and Trade
  • Department for Work and Pensions
  • HM Treasury
  • Financial Reporting Council (Secretariat)
  • Financial Conduct Authority
  • Local Government Association
  • The Pensions Regulator
  • Prudential Regulation Authority

SRG’s Objectives

  1. Facilitate co-ordination and co-operation among SRG members to ensure a cohesive approach to the direction and oversight of stewardship.
  2. Identify opportunities for alignment of stewardship reporting requirements.
  3. Enhance and promote effective stewardship, including in relation to investors engagement with corporate governance, social and environmental issues.
  4. Monitor relevant initiatives that can support effective stewardship across the investment industry.

Guest speakers

The SRG aims to remain informed of the latest developments in stewardship across industry and academia. Periodically the SRG will invite guest speakers including policymakers and industry bodies involved in stewardship to present on research, workstreams and/or publications relevant to the groups objectives and workplan.
