The Financial Reporting Council announces appointment of Richard Fleck as Chairman of the FRRP

The Financial Reporting Council (FRC) has today announced that Richard Fleck will succeed Bill Knight as Chairman of the Financial Reporting Review Panel. Bill Knight retired on 31 March after serving as Chairman for eight years.
Commenting on his appointment, Chairman of the FRC Baroness Hogg said,
“Bill has been an excellent chair of the FRRP, and has played a particularly important role in improving the quality of narrative reporting by companies.”
“Richard will be a first class successor to Bill and brings to the FRRP a wealth of experience having served for many years as a lawyer specialising in corporate and regulatory law, and as Chair of the Auditing Practices Board (APB).”
Commenting on his appointment, Richard Fleck said,
“I am delighted that I have been appointed Chairman of the FRRP. I look forward to building on Bill’s excellent work and ensuring that we continue to improve the quality of narrative reporting”
- The FRC is the UK’s independent regulator responsible for promoting high quality corporate governance and reporting to foster investment.
- The role of the Panel is to examine the annual accounts and directors’ reports of public and large private companies to see whether they comply with the requirements of the Companies Act 2006 including applicable accounting standards. Following implementation of the Accounting Regulation (EC) No 1606/2002, this may mean compliance with UK or International Financial Reporting Standards.
