FRC appoints Mark Armour to the FRC Board

The Financial Reporting Council (FRC) today announces the appointment of Mark Armour to the FRC Board as of 2 July. Commenting on the appointment, FRC Chairman Baroness Hogg said,


“Mark brings to the FRC Board much experience in the field of financial and corporate reporting, and will bring highly valuable insights to the FRC Board.”

  1. The Financial Reporting Council is the UK’s independent regulator for promoting high quality corporate governance and reporting to foster investment.
  2. Mark Armour is Chief Financial Officer of Reed Elsevier. He joined the company as Deputy Chief Financial Officer in 1995 and was appointed a director and Chief Financial Officer in 1996. He retires from Reed Elsevier at the end of the year. Prior to 1995, Mark was a partner in Price Waterhouse. He is a non-executive director of SABMiller plc. He holds an MA in Engineering from Cambridge University.
  3. From 2002 to 2004, he was Chairman of The Hundred Group of Finance Directors. He was a member of the Finance and Reporting Working Group of the UK Government’s Company Law Steering Group, which reported in 2001, and a member of the group appointed by the FRC which produced the Smith Report on Audit Committees in 2003. In 2010, Mark was a member of the advisory group formed by the FRC to support its review of effective company stewardship.
