FRC publishes Audit Quality Inspection Reports on Crowe Clark Whitehill LLP and Grant Thornton UK LLP

The FRC has today published Audit Quality Inspection reports for Crowe Clark Whitehill LLP and Grant Thornton UK LLP. Crowe Clark Whitehill is inspected every three years; Grant Thornton is inspected annually.
The FRC’s Audit Quality Inspections Annual Report for 2014/15 and, separately, individual reports on Deloitte, KPMG, EY, PwC, BDO and Mazars are due to be published by mid-June. The publication of those reports will conclude the FRC’s reporting on the 2014/15 cycle of audit inspections.

  1. The FRC is responsible for promoting high quality corporate governance andreporting to foster investment. We set the UK Corporate Governance and Stewardship Codes as well as UK standards for accounting, auditing and actuarial work. We represent UK interests in international standard-setting. We also monitor and take action to promote the quality of corporate reporting and auditing. We operate independent disciplinary arrangements for accountants and actuaries; andoversee the regulatory activities of the accountancy and actuarial professional bodies.
     
  2. Inspection frequency and reporting:
    • The FRC inspects and reports on the Big Four firms annually. Following recommendations from the Competition and Markets Authority, inspections of BDO LLP and Grant Thornton UK LLP are conducted annually. Crowe Clark Whitehill LLP, Mazars LLP and Baker Tilly UK Audit LLP remain on their current three yearly inspection cycle.
