FRC announces the appointment of Sarah Rapson as new Executive Director of Supervision

Sarah joins the FRC at a key point in its transformation journey to becoming the Audit, Reporting and Governance Authority (ARGA).
Sarah is currently Director of Authorisations at the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and will be joining the FRC on a two year secondment. She will oversee the FRC’s Supervision division with responsibility for the FRC’s audit quality reviews, corporate reporting reviews, audit firm supervision, audit market supervision and professional oversight teams.
Sarah will be joining the FRC in September with an official start date to be confirmed. Sarah replaces David Rule, who is returning to the Prudential Regulation Authority after the completion of his two year secondment at the FRC.

Sarah Rapson has been Director, Authorisations at the Financial Conduct Authority since October 2016. From 2013-16, Sarah was a member of the Home Office Board, as the first Director General of UK Visas and Immigration – responsible for overseas visas, in-country immigration, and asylum. Sarah was Chief Executive of the Identity and Passport Service (now HM Passport Office) from 2010-13 and in 2010 was also appointed by Her Majesty the Queen as the 20th Registrar General for England and Wales, responsible for Civil Registration, a post she held until 2014. Before joining the Civil Service in 2005, Sarah’s career had been in retail financial services. She graduated in Mathematics and holds an MBA from London Business School. She is currently the Senior Independent Director of an NHS Acute Hospital Trust. In 2016, Sarah was named as one of Cranfield University’s 100 Women To Watch.
